Telephonic interpreting can be conducted in one of three ways:
1. By speaker phone where the caller and the person that requires the service are face to face and the interpreter listens on the phone and interprets between the two parties on what is being communicated.
2. The caller shares with the interpreter the information to be communicated to the person requiring service. Then the phone is passed to the person for the interpretation. This is a back and forth exchange until the session is completed.
3. The individual initiating the contact is on a call with the person requiring service. The caller would place the person on hold until a connection is made with the interpreter, at which time all parties are engaged in a three way call for interpreting.
All calls are ended by the person who initiated the call for service. There is no additional equipment needed for telephonic interpreting. There is no minimum number of minutes per call.
